Modern daily life in big cities, like Bangkok or Singapore, often entices us to dream about an escape, preferably to turquoise oceans and white sand beaches.
There are lots of options available in Thailand but for a true escape, far from the usual touristic destinations, Koh Madsum is one of the few remaining untouched islands in the Kingdom. Located twenty minutes away by boat from the Southern part of Samui island, at Thong Tanote pier, there are three boat schedules available throughout the day. You will start to leave behind all the stress from work, all your worries as soon as you are taken care of by the friendly staff at Samui airport. With their private luxury van pickup, you have smoothly whisked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Once you arrived at the resort, Khun Nicky, the front office manager will welcome you and ask your preferences from a selection of soaps, teas, and choice of pillows, a part of their U Choose Programme where guests can choose their amenities online or upon arrival.
Once you settle in your Beachfront pool villa, located on the sandy beachside of the resort, the only sights and sounds are those naturally created by Mother Nature. There are still no cars, no fast-food chains or busy malls, shopping centers on the island. The real luxury is to ‘have no plans”, to let go of all external disturbances and to get back to simple pleasures in life. Walking barefoot on the white sandy beach, to hear the waves crashing against the corals, and to order breakfast whenever/wherever. U’s unique concept of service includes the 24 hours room, which will allow guests to enjoy their room for 24 hours from check-in. Simplicity does not mean a lack of facilities. The Beachfront pool villa comes with a huge bathroom with a rain shower and an oversized luxury-soaking bathtub, a large swimming pool, and an outdoor lounge. On top of all those indulgences, comes your own private piece of beachfront to bask in the sun or enjoy a private romantic meal.
Fine dining is available at The Coral, an all-day dining restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, offering views of the main swimming pool, beautifully lit every evening. For starter, the Samui shellfish bisque (290++ baht) was rich and full of delicate flavors from freshly caught fish. As the main course, the Seafood Treasure Platter for two (1,590++ baht), offers a selection of rock lobster, grouper, prawns, squid, green mussels and scallops cooked in five different styles and spices to choose from.
Open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6am to 10:30pm.
At The Beach, Thai and international cuisine can be enjoyed for lunch and offer views of the pristine sea and neighboring islands. A fully stocked bar can quench any thirst. Make sure to order one of their innovative cocktails during happy hours from 5pm to 8pm.
Open daily for lunch from 12pm to 2pm and dinner from 5pm to 10:30pm.
The ‘real luxury’ is to be able to choose to do ‘what you like’, ‘whenever you feel like’, without constrains, without a schedule to get a totally relaxing holiday experience and to recharge your soul.
