Bali – Ubud: Spice by Chris Salans Opens Until Midnight

The Chris Salans Group is excited to announce a new initiative for adding local glamor to the night life of Ubud, Bali’s cultural heartland. Starting immediately, the Spice by Chris Salans gastro-bar will stay open until midnight, showcasing a night bar and presenting a special list of cocktails featuring local flavors and ingredients, and innovative Indonesian finger food, inspired by the superb cuisine of Celebrity Chef Chris Salans of the award-winning restaurant Mozaic Restaurant in Ubud.

Ubud doesn’t stay up late at night (unless there’s a temple festival or other big religious ceremony). Many visitors will welcome this new venture as a place to gather with friends after hours.

Chef-owner Chris Salans says, “As part of Spice night bar, we will be re-introducing people to the traditional Balinese drinks Arak and Brem. We will also have a full range of imported spirits, but our focus is to bring Balinese culture into our guests’ experience with new beautiful and dramatic cocktails all based on local ingredients and flavors.”

Arak is a clear spirit distilled from rice, and Brem is a gentle rice wine. In Balinese ritual, these are offered as libations for the ground spirits. The Arak and Brem used at Spice are carefully crafted by local producers Dewi Sri distillery for the highest quality and consistency.
