On the luxury resort front, one welcome addition is Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak Resort, already a central landmark in the area although it only opened its doors in August 2014. Our airport taxi knew Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak Resort instantly and whisked us there in 20 minutes. As we got our bearings, we were pleased to find our hotel right in the heart of Seminyak, walking distance from the beach and many of the venues we planned to visit during our short break.
Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak Resort takes security seriously and all visitors pass through a detector before entering the bright marble lobby that opens onto the big, gorgeous multi-pool courtyard and garden. The smiling staff helped us to our Deluxe Pool View room. There are 287 designer rooms and suites, but take our advice and opt for one with a pool view. Shielded from the noise of passing traffic, and replete with an ample balcony, these pool-facing units capture that luxury getaway feeling and provide a lively vista on the courtyard with its multiple pools, fountains, lounging guests, its in-the-pool cocktail bar, green garden, tall trees, and blue skies.
Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak Resort caters well to families, couples and a young upscale crowd. Whether its cocktails in the pool or yoga on the lawn, there is something for everyone. It’s breakfast, lunch and dining venue Seminyak Kitchen offers a splendid morning buffet with all the standard breakfast items, fresh fruit, bread and cheeses and a changing selection of Indonesian and Indian dishes. It’s lunch and dinner menu offers familiar international dishes and showcases classic Balinese cuisine with bold modern twists. Next door the dining venue Seminyak Meat Shop offers a wide selection of barbequed, grilled and sizzled meats to your specifications along with a range of healthy soups and salads.
After lunch at Seminyak Kitchen, we lounged by the pool until it was time for our appointment at Courtyard Seminyak’s Spa, Zanti – The Retreat. Next door to the fitness center, Zanti offers a variety of treatments from facials and foot baths to Balinese Massage and body scrubs. Feeling refreshed from the penetrating oils and deep caress of a very thorough Balinese Massage, we got ready for our first night out.
We stopped by Seminyak Meat Shop for a pre-dinner dinner and as we carved into sumptuous portions of steak and chicken, the very amicable hotel General Manager, John Woolley stopped by and joined us for a glass of pastis. John, a UK-born American who moved to Bali in 2016, is often seen about the resort in a dapper Indonesian dress shirt chatting keenly with guests. He informed us that Courtyard Seminyak has ongoing promotions with nearby entertainment venues. Currently, hotel guests can receive a complimentary first drink at Mexicola and Potato Head, and 50% off at Red Carpet Champagne Bar, three of the trendiest bars in Seminyak.
