นิทรรศการ ​​Nothing here, you’ve come to the wrong place เป็นผลสืบเนื่องจากการพยายามขยายขอบเขตวิธีการนำเสนอข้อมูลการทำงานภาคสนามจากโครงการเชิงทดลอง “ชุมชนในภาพถ่ายจากภาพถ่ายในชุมชน : คนละมุมมองเดียวกันผ่านภาพถ่ายคนใน คนนอก คนกลาง และคนอื่น” ที่จัดขึ้นภายในชุมชนบ้านโนนม่วง ตำบลวังไชย อำเภอบรบือ จังหวัดมหาสารคาม ชุมชนที่ทั้งคนในและคนนอกต่างบอกเป็นเสียงเดียวกันว่า “ที่นี่ไม่มีอะไร” ​

ด้วยกรอบมโนทัศน์นี้เองที่เป็นเหตุของการเริ่มต้นพิจารณา “ความไม่มีอะไร” ผ่านปฏิบัติการถ่ายภาพเชิงทดลอง ซึ่งอาจจะเผยให้เห็นถึงการดำรงอยู่ของสิ่งต่างๆ หรือยืนยันถึงการมีอยู่ของ “ความว่างเปล่า”

** โครงการชุมชนในภาพถ่ายจากภาพถ่ายในชุมชน: คนละมุมมองเดียวกันผ่านภาพถ่ายคนใน คนนอก คนกลาง และคนอื่น เป็นโครงการเชิงทดลองภายใต้ทุนสนับสนุนจาก ศูนย์มานุษยวิทยาสิรินธร (องค์การมหาชน)

Exhibition “Nothing here, you’ve come to the wrong place” is a result of trying to expand the scope of the method of presenting fieldwork data from photography and community experimental project which was operated in Ban Nonmuang Village, Borabue, Mahasarakham. The village has been seen as an ordinary place by both insiders and outsiders because there is no specific uniqueness unlike the famous villages in the northeastern region of Thailand. This perception sparked an idea of seeking something, which hides behind the commonplaceness, with the experimental photography which may reveal either existence of things or insistence of emptiness.

Artists in Residence – July 2019

Ramesh Ramakrishnan

Ramesh Ramakrishnan (RR) is a Photographer, artist, and marketer with over three decades of corporate experience in Marketing, Strategy and General Management in companies like P&G, Philips, Seagram/Pernod–Ricard and Dumex/Danone. Returning to academics in 2018 he graduated with an MA in Asian Art History from the Goldsmiths University of London studying in LaSalle College Singapore. He completed his Artist residency as a photographer/artist in MES56 JOGJAKARTA an artist space focused on contemporary photography exploring the photographs of the Hidden Base of Borobudur. RAMESH did his MA thesis on photography of transgender people in Asia and he is currently working on a few long term projects based on River Cultures, Sacred Spaces and Gender Photography Currently he is an artist in residence in Tentacles art gallery in BKK. In Tentacles he is working on exploring the changing culture of the Chaopraya river that flows through Bangkok and Southern Thailand as a basis for his PhD studies.

Ge Yulu

Ge Yulu born at Wuhan, Hubei. He undergraduate in Media Art at Hubei Institute of Fine Arts and postgraduate in experimental art at Central Academy of Fine Arts. 

His recent Professional Experiences is  Hic sunt leones, Surplus Space, Wuhan, China, 2019, Extreme Mix 2019 Guangzhou Airport Biennale, Guangzhou Airport Resort, Guangzhou, China, 2019. He interested to research about local Thai lifestyle and travel like a tourist to absorb Thai culture.

Yusuke Shibata
 

Yusuke SHIBATA Born in 1980 in Fukuoka in Japan, currently lives and works in Tokyo. He graduated from Musashino Art University in the major of painting in 2005 and obtained a MFA in Printmaking in Fine Arts at Musashino Art University in 2007. He mainly works in video, photography, and sculpture, and creates installation work with them. He works focus on the truthfulness and falsehood of people, objects, and events for he is interested in the fact that “relationship between reality and fiction seems to be polarizing, but in actuality, the two are always two sides of the same coin.” He states that in the modern-day world, the boundary between truth and false is blurred, and the question of what is real and unreal cannot be established. His recent exhibitions include a solo exhibition “Meeting Point” (Yet Thirtieth Experimental Art Space, Hong Kong, 2018), “Public and FreedomⅡ” (WAITINGROOM, Tokyo, 2017), solo exhibition “Public and Freedom” (Art Center Ongoing, Tokyo, 2016), group exhibition “Oku-Noto Triennale” (Former Kodomari nursery, Ishikawa, 2017) , group exhibition “Shibata and Yamamoto’s First February” (Art Center Ongoing, Tokyo, 2016), solo exhibition “BGM” (WAITINGROOM, Tokyo, 2014), group exhibition “NENDO” (PAN///, Manila, Philippines), group exhibition “Some Like It Witty” (Gallery EXIT, Hong Kong, 2014), solo exhibition “DRIBBLE” (Centro Cultural Borges, Buenos Aires, 2013), performance work at “Roppongi Art Night 2013” (Tokyo, 2013) and many others in Japan and abroad.
